About the station
Listen to NPR online
WOSU 89.7 NPR News is Central Ohio’s full-time public-radio news and information service. The station combines reporting from WOSU and NPR with Morning Edition, All Things Considered, BBC World Service, and All Sides, WOSU’s weekday conversation about news, culture, and life in Ohio.
WOSU’s broadcasting history began on April 24, 1922, when The Ohio State University launched WEAO, the sixth educational radio station in the United States. The service later adopted the WOSU call letters and became a long-running center for educational broadcasting, public affairs, and audience research.
Today 89.7 FM in Columbus carries NPR news around the clock. WOSU Public Media also operates Classical 101 on WOSA 101.1 FM and regional stations serving Marion, Coshocton, Granville, Mansfield, and Portsmouth. The player uses WOSU’s official AAC stream, and schedule times follow Eastern Time.
