About the station
Listen to WKNC 88.1 FM HD1/HD2 online
WKNC 88.1 FM is NC State’s student-run radio station in Raleigh. Start the WKNC HD1 live stream above for indie and alternative rock, electronic music, underground hip-hop, metal, jazz, public affairs and specialty shows curated by student DJs.
Daytime Rock and the daily Local Lunch anchor the daytime service, while evening and overnight blocks rotate among Sunset, Underground, Afterhours and Chainsaw programming. WKNC’s live semester grid and searchable playlists identify current DJs and recently played songs; Wolfpack sports may preempt regular shows.
WKNC broadcasts on 88.1 FM and HD1 with 25 kW. A separate 88.1 HD2 channel reverses many of the main service’s format blocks and has its own official online stream and request line. It is a digital subchannel, not a separate analog frequency or sister station.
