WBAP signed on May 2, 1922, making it one of Texas’ oldest radio stations. The Fort Worth-licensed 820 AM facility operates with 50,000 watts as a Class A clear-channel station, giving it broad daytime coverage and a nighttime signal heard well beyond North Texas.

Full-power WBAP-FM 93.3 in Haltom City has simulcast the station since 2024. WBAP is owned by Cumulus Media; its Dallas–Fort Worth sister stations include KLIF 570, New Country 96.3 KSCS, 99.5 The Wolf and Sportsradio 96.7/1310 The Ticket.
