About the station
Listen to NPR online
WABE 90.1 FM is Atlanta’s nonprofit NPR news and information station. Its weekday schedule combines Morning Edition and All Things Considered with locally produced programs including Politically Georgia, Closer Look, City Lights, and Health Wanted. WABE’s newsroom covers government, culture, education, business, and community life across metro Atlanta and Georgia.
WABE signed on from Atlanta City Hall on September 13, 1948, becoming Georgia’s first public radio station. Its earliest broadcasts supported classroom instruction. WABE later became a charter NPR member in 1970 and developed into an independent, community-supported public-media organization.
The main news service broadcasts on 90.1 FM. A separate classical service is available on 90.1 HD2 and through WABE’s official digital player. No stable public HTTPS audio endpoint suitable for the site’s direct player was verified, so this page does not substitute a scraped or temporary stream URL.
