The 93.7 frequency signed on in 1960 as WAYL. It first used the 93X identity for hard rock in 1992, spent several years as alternative station The Edge, then returned to 93X with the KXXR call sign in September 1997.
Licensed to Minneapolis, Minnesota, KXXR serves Minneapolis–St. Paul with 100 kW ERP. It is owned by Cumulus Media through Radio License Holdings LLC. Sister stations include 92 KQRS and the three-frequency Love 105 service.
