KUT 90.5 is Austin’s NPR news and information station, serving Central Texas from The University of Texas at Austin. Its schedule combines reporting from KUT News with Morning Edition, All Things Considered, BBC World Service, and Texas Standard, the statewide news program produced in Austin.
KUT-FM went on the air in 1958 at 90.7 FM. The station became a charter member of NPR in 1971 and carried the first All Things Considered broadcast that May. In 1982, KUT moved to 90.5 FM, increased to 100,000 watts, and began stereo broadcasting. It launched Central Texas’ first full-time public-radio newsroom in 2002.
In 2013, KUT became a full-time news service while music programming moved to sister station KUTX 98.9. The player on this page uses KUT’s official 128 kbps MP3 stream, and the day-by-day schedule follows Central Time.
