KUSC 91.5 FM is Los Angeles’ listener-supported classical radio station and the Southern California flagship of Classical California. The station presents a continuous mix of orchestral, chamber, choral, opera, piano, and contemporary classical music, with knowledgeable hosts who identify the works and add useful context.
KUSC is licensed by the University of Southern California. In 2026, KUSC and its San Francisco sister service KDFC came together under the statewide Classical California identity while keeping their local frequencies. The combined non-profit service reaches listeners over FM, the official website and app, smart speakers, and direct internet streams.
Weekdays begin with Classical California All-Night, followed by hosted classical music with Jennifer Miller Hammel, Maggie Clennon Reberg, Alan Chapman, Dianne Nicolini, and Brian Lauritzen. Lara Downes presents Evening Music; Wednesday evenings also include Classical Californians.
The weekend schedule adds distinctive programs for different listening moods: SoCal Saturday Night, From the Top, Modern Times, A Joyful Noise, A Musical Offering, NorCal Sunday Night, and The Opera Show. KUSC first went on the air on October 24, 1946, beginning as a student-run USC station with a signal reaching roughly ten miles from campus. It later grew into one of the country’s leading non-profit classical music services and now serves communities across Southern California.
Listeners outside the 91.5 FM coverage area can also hear the same service on 91.1 FM in Thousand Oaks, 93.7 FM in Santa Barbara, 99.7 FM in San Luis Obispo, and 88.5 FM in Palm Springs.
