KUOW 94.9 FM is Seattle’s NPR news and information station. Its schedule combines reporting from the KUOW newsroom with Morning Edition, All Things Considered, BBC World Service, and public-radio programs covering politics, science, culture, and life in the Pacific Northwest. The local lineup includes Soundside, Week in Review, and The Wild.
KUOW’s license was awarded to the University of Washington Board of Regents in 1951, and the station began broadcasting in 1952. It later became one of NPR’s original member stations. Today KUOW operates as an independent nonprofit affiliated with the University of Washington and receives most of its support from listeners and local businesses.
The primary service is heard on 94.9 FM in Seattle. KUOW programming also reaches northwest Washington on KQOW 90.3 FM in Bellingham and the South Sound on KUOW 1340 AM in Tumwater. The live player and day-by-day schedule on this page use Pacific Time.
