KQED 88.5 FM is a public radio news and information service based in San Francisco. The station carries NPR programs alongside locally produced reporting and conversation, including Forum and The California Report. Its coverage is designed for listeners across the Bay Area and parts of Northern California.
KQED Public Radio was founded in 1969 and adopted an all-news and information format in 1987. The organization began live internet streaming in 2000 and introduced on-demand audio archives in 2002, extending access beyond its terrestrial coverage area.
The primary 88.5 FM service is also carried on KQEI 89.3 FM for the Sacramento area and on 88.3 FM in Santa Rosa. These verified related signals help listeners find KQED programming when 88.5 FM is not the strongest local frequency.

Our verification method
We match the call sign, licensed frequency, city of license, and facility identity against FCC data. We then compare the station name, format, schedule, and related signals with the station’s official website and test the listed stream in a browser-compatible player. Regional restrictions, breaking news, and live sports can still change availability or programming.
