KJZZ 91.5 FM is the NPR member station serving Phoenix and central Arizona with local, national, and international news. Its schedule combines reporting from the KJZZ newsroom with programs from NPR, BBC, American Public Media, and PRX, plus interviews and discussions focused on Arizona and the Southwest.
The station began in 1951 as KFCA, a 10-watt service operated from Phoenix College. It moved to 91.5 FM in the 1960s, became an NPR member in 1971, adopted the KMCR call sign in 1972, and became KJZZ in 1985. KJZZ now broadcasts from Rio Salado College in Tempe and operates a newsroom covering metro Phoenix, Arizona, the border region, and Mexico.
Weekday programs include Morning Edition, KJZZ’s The Show, Here & Now, All Things Considered, Fresh Air, and the BBC World Service.
